Viral Japanese Cheesecake
Recipe: Viral Japanese Cheesecake
My version of the popular Viral Japanese Cheesecake is easy to make, delicious and amazingly cheesecake like. Make it day before and leave it in the fridge for a big party, make it within a day for sudden parties, enjoy it as summer dessert.
When I first came across the viral Japanese cheesecake reel on Instagram, I tried out the recipe. It was super simple – insert some cookies in a tub of plain Greek Yogurt. Leave it in the fridge for 4 hours or more so the cookies become a bit soft. Truthfully, we didn’t like it much. The cookies didn’t get soft enough. I guess it depends on the quality of yogurt used. Ours doesn’t contain much whey. And, though we love yogurt, this cheesecake had no taste at all. Then I started experimenting and finally came up with a version that hubby and I both love.
What Is Viral Japanese Cheesecake?
It is a cheesecake like dessert that was trending on the social media a couple of months ago. Any cookies are inserted in a tub of Greek yogurt and allowed to chill in the fridge for 4 hours or more. The cookies become soft resulting in a cake like cheesecake flavoured treat. And then I came across so many different versions as people adapted it to their taste. It is called Japanese Cheesecake as it is believed that this simple treat originated from Japan and became a sensation.
Is Worth Trying Out This Recipe?
It certainly is. Make it your own. Trust me the cookies and Plain Greek Yogurt is not for you if like me you have a sweet tooth. The reason I make this cheesecake like dessert repeatedly is because it is a good way to get the family to enjoy some protein rich yogurt. Besides that, it is an easy peasy recipe. Your kids too can help to make it. So go on check out my version. Get the idea how to make and then create your own version.
Sharing Viral Japanese Cheesecake Recipe With The Group Sunday Funday
Wendy who blogs at A Day in the Life on the Farm suggested Cookout Ideas And Recipes. She suggested the following ” In anticipation of Father’s Day, let’s plan a cookout for those special men/people who fulfill the paternal role in our lives. This can be something you would cook on the grill, a side dish, a dessert, etc.” I opted for a dessert recipe as we hardly ever do much grilling and secondly my dad has a super sweet tooth so am sure he would love this dessert. In fact this time I will be spending Father’s Day with home after so many years. And certainly making this dessert for him.

Ingredients Required For Viral Japanese Cheesecake, My Version
Greek Yogurt
Use good quality Plain Greek Yogurt.
Cream Cheese
Add a little to get that authentic cheesecake like flavour.
Biscoff Spread
Adds flavour and a bit of sweetness. Depending on the type of cookies you use you can replace it with any nut butter, Nutella.
Biscoff
I decided to use Lotus biscoff as we love the caramelized flavour. Use any cookies of your choice.
Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
Just a little to dust on the top.
Maple Syrup
Add according to your taste. Can replace it with honey.
Nuts
Add any nuts of your choice on top. Or can add some fresh fruit, chocolate chips, dried fruits, etc. Can also drizzle some biscoff spread on top or any nut butter, Nutella.
