• Apple Carrot Salad

    May 28, 2023mayurisjikoni

Apple Carrot Salad Apple Carrot Salad is a delicious, crunchy, tangy and refreshing salad that is perfect as a light lunch option or as a side dish. With homemade lemon vinaigrette, this is my go to salad for picnics and potlucks. An easy salad which does not require too many ingredients. If we are going to enjoy the salad straight away then I grate both. Homemade Lemon Vinaigrette adds a tangy, refreshing flavour to the salad. However, if you want to prepare…

Event: Sunday Funday Theme: Sprouts Recipe: Spicy Tofu Bowl   Spicy Tofu Bowl is a healthy, delicious and easy recipe where I serve spicy tofu with salad ingredients and nuts with a light sesame seed dressing. This bowl is perfect as a light meal, for picnics, for lunch boxes or to serve it as a side to a main Chinese meal. And it is completely vegan and gluten free. Memories Tofu is not an ingredient I’ve grown up with. As a kid had no idea that a food ingredient tofu existed. That changed when Bangkok Chinese Restaurant, Nairobi first introduced it on their menu. During one family meal at the restaurant, the owner sent some stir fried tofu to our table to taste. Some didn’t…

Vegetarian Vs Ovo Vegetarian Before I have die hard vegetarians up in arms, let me clarify that Vegetarian in the Western World is a bit different from India. In India vegetarian would mean no eggs also. However, in some places in the West, fish and eggs are a part of the Vegetarian diet. But, I follow the ovo vegetarian diet which means that though I don’t consume meat or fish, eggs is fine. My Version…

What Are Coloured Carrots? Also known as Rainbow Carrots, I had the opportunity to use them for the first time during winter. Back in Kenya, we get only the orange variety so imagine the excitement when I was able to buy carrots that are yellow, red, purple, white and of course the orange one all in one pack. It is believed that carrots originate from Afghanistan. And back then carrots were mainly used as medicinal ingredient rather than as food. Also it seems that back then carrots…
