Event: FoodieMonday/Bloghop Theme: 178- Harvest Harmony Recipe: Til Gud Ke Ladoo Til Gud Ke Ladoo is an easy recipe whereby roasted sesame seeds are mixed with powdered jaggery, peanuts, coconut, spices and ghee and rolled into balls. Perfect recipe for the harvest season or Makar Sankranti. The best part of this recipe is that you don’t need to make the jaggery syrup. Making jaggery syrup perfectly can be a challenge. Festivals In India Festivals are always a memorable part of my travels to India. Last year we missed celebrating Makar Sankranti, Lohri and Pongal in India as we left before the 14th of January. People start preparing for Christmas, people look forward to holiday time, people look forward to meeting up with family. Christmas season has been an exciting time for me since I was a little kid. In primary school it was the excitement of bringing something from home to decorate the Christmas tree and something special to share with all in the class for the end of the term Christmas Party. December also meant that we were required to go to the shop to help out as that was the busiest period of the whole year, did I mention it was a toy shop called Hobby Centre. We would be…

EVENT: DESI BLOGGERS CONNECT THEME: DIWALI DHAMAKA The Group Desi Bloggers Connect: My contribution for this theme is Coconut Laddoos/ Coconut Fudge Balls. Bloggers Connect is a Facebook Group where members support each other by sharing and commenting on each others post. I’ve met many food bloggers though this group. For this Diwali Festival, the admins decided that we should prepare a sweet and savory or either dish to share for the theme. My Story: When I volunteered to take part in this event, I had jotted down a few options. One was a recipe that my mother in law use to make often during Diwali. However, its a bit time consuming and it will have to wait for another time. After I got back from…

EVENT: BLOGGING MARATHON #89 THEME: MAKE ONE TYPE OF INDIAN SWEET Next week I’m traveling to Canada to visit my son. Excited? Yes. Have I started packing? No. I know last minute I’m going to be running around like a headless chicken. I need to put away the spices, grains, flours, lentils everything in the fridge. I hate this part. The weather here is so humid that food gets spoilt within a month in not stored in the fridge. I need to still make a few goodies to take for him. I need to pack. I was joking with hubby dear that he might as well convert one of the bedrooms into a cold storage. Oh well, let me just relax for a bit and…
