    September 1, 2020mayurisjikoni

EVENT: SHHH COOKING SECRETLY THEME: CHOCOLATE Chilli Avocado Chocolate Cake: Vegan, fudgy, eggless and delicious, are the words to describe this incredibly easy to bake chilli avocado chocolate cake. If you’re a lover of avocado and chocolate like me then you’ll love this cake. Since I love the combination of chocolate and chilli, I decided to add a bit in the cake batter. The subtle taste of chilli, felt at the back of the throat is simply awesome. I followed the recipe for this from the blog I’m A Baker. Obviously, I halved the recipe (Amanda’s bake is huge!) and added chilli powder. I also used avocado chocolate frosting. A bit about the group: Members of this group give their partners two secret ingredients according…

  • Chocolate Truffles

    August 31, 2020mayurisjikoni

EVENT: FOODIEMONDAY/BLOGHOP THEME: #262 BITTER BUT GOOD  RECIPE: CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE What is a Chocolate Truffle? In reality, truffle is an edible but very expensive fungi. Just a few shavings used in a dish elevates the overall flavour and taste. However, today my recipe has nothing to do with that truffle. Specifically, Chocolate Truffles are bite sized chocolate treats or confectionery.  Actually, made from ganache which is simply a mixture of melted chocolate and warmed cream.    This Week’s Theme on FoodieMonday/Bloghop Group: This week, the group theme is Bitter but Good.  Actually, Sasmita who blogs at First Timer Cook, suggested that we use any food that is naturally bitter.  Naturally Bitter Foods By the way, when I think of bitter food, bitter gourd pops up…

If possible the main ingredient has to be milk or its products. This interesting theme, suggested by Swati who blogs Food Trails, offers so many options. Frankly, I’ve ordered too many apples this week so thought of using up some to prepare Apple…

EVENT: FOODIEMONDAY/BLOGHOP THEME: #260 MEETHE PAL RECIPE : CHOCOLATE MODAK This Week’s Theme on FoodieMonday/Bloghop Group: This week, the group has to prepare any sweet dish of their choice, be it an Indian Sweet or any dessert. My choice is Chocolate Modak. Sujata who blogs at Batter Up With Sujata suggested this week’s theme. Sujata’s blog is a mixture of Bengali dishes and bakes. When I’m able to source banana leaf or arbi leaves, I really want to try her Chhanar Paturi recipe. Its steamed paneer with mustard.  Why I made Chocolate Modak? While I’m always pulled to making desserts, at the same time wanted to make some quick and different kind of modak as Ganesh Chaturthi is just round the corner. I know of…

EVENT: FOODIEMONDAY/BLOGHOP THEME: #259 FRUITY BITES RECIPE : KNICKERBOCKER GLORY This Week’s Theme on FoodieMonday/Bloghop Group: This week, the group has to use fresh fruits to create or make a dessert. When Archana who blogs at The Mad Scientists Kitchen suggested this theme, I knew I wanted to re create desserts that are associated with my childhood. As for Archana’s blog, most of her posts either for Indian or International Cuisine are fun to read as she tends to include a lot of information associated to the recipe. What is Knickerbocker Glory? If you search in any dictionary, knickerbockers are loose fitting short trousers which are gathered at the knees. It is believed that these type of trousers were worn by Dutch Settlers who went…

Narmadha’s suggestion for the munchkin meals was to try and make them as healthy as possible. Desserts are always difficult to make them kids friendly with no sugar. That’s when I thought of Beetroot Blueberry Pops. Kids Friendly Meals When my kids were growing up making meals for them was never stressful. • Date Paneer Cheesecake

    May 11, 2020mayurisjikoni

EVENT: FOODIEMONDAY/BLOGHOP THEME: #246 P FOR PANEER My Paneer Dish : Date  Paneer Cheesecake I must have had the recipe for date and paneer cheesecake jotted down in my recipe book for ages. If I’m not mistaken I must have jotted it down from the Elle Magazine (India Edition) that my daughter kept on buying during her college years. Right now we get the best choice of Dates during Ramadan month and it would be really sad if I didn’t take the opportunity to try out the dessert. Sweet dates were enough to add a little sweetness to the dessert. Most of us are still under lockdowns, stay at home, self isolation, etc etc as times are getting more uncertain as to how the Corona…
