Chocolate Avocado Pudding is a decadent, creamy, easy to make, free from refined sugar and protein rich dessert. It makes a good healthy and filling dessert. Or enjoy it for breakfast. I have grown up in a country where we get avocado throughout the year. Some can be the size of a small papaya, I am not joking.
Memories
I am a huge fan of avocado. So no wonder when the 93rd theme for the group FoodieMonday/ Bloghop was Summer Fruit, I chose avocado. Actually, it depends which part of the world you are in. Places like Mexico and Kenya grown them throughout the year. Places like Peru, Spain, Australia, California, South Africa, avocados are considered summer fruits. Using avocado I decided on a healthy and easy to make dessert.
A Big Green Berry
Yes you read the title correct. Botanically speaking an avocado is a berry and thus classified as a fruit. It is a single berry fruit. Did you know that avocados contain more potassium than bananas? Avocados can be used to replace cream and butter. That is why they are used in baking and as an excellent option for desserts to replace dairy products. I’m not going to go into the health benefits of including avocados in your diet as most of us are aware of nutritional value of this alligator pear, butter fruit, avocado pear, cheese pear etc.
Sharing Chocolate Avocado Pudding With Foodies_Redoing Old Recipes
When I first posted Chocolate Avocado Pudding way back on 22/05/2017, had only one photo to share. Renu who blogs at Cook With Renu, started this group. It allows us to focus on redoing old posts with better photos, write up and also including a video. This time round I am sharing more photos and also have changed the recipe a bit to include Plain Greek Yogurt to make the dessert protein rich.

Ingredients Required For Chocolate Avocado Pudding
Avocado
I have used one medium ripe avocado. Make sure it is a bit firm but ripe. Cut the avocado into half , remove the stone and scoop into a blender.
Natural Sweetener
Can use honey, agave, maple syrup, etc. I use either honey or maple syrup. Add according to your taste.
Cocoa Powder
Use good quality cocoa powder, unsweetened one.
Greek Yogurt
I like to add a little plain Greek Yogurt to make the dessert a little protein rich. Can omit it if you wish. You will need to add some milk to make the avocado into a smooth consistency. Can use dairy milk, coconut or almond milk.
Flavour
Add vanilla extract if you want to. I like adding lemon or orange zest. Adds a lovely summery flavour.
Nuts
I like to serve the pudding topped with some chopped mixed nuts. This is optional.
Fresh Fruit
Add fresh fruits to make the pudding more wholesome. Again, this is optional.
Chia Seeds
Add chis seeds as it helps to ‘set’ the pudding. Also it adds dietary fibre and is protein rich.
Salt
Adding a pinch or salt helps to balance the flavours. Use any salt of your choice.
