Spicy grilled paneer cubes are served on a bed of spinach and naan. It is a fun way to serve this starter dish at parties or even for a BBQ get together. Anywhere you go, for dinner parties, weddings, engagements or any social gathering, people tend to fill their stomach with starters. • Tzatziki

    May 15, 2017mayurisjikoni

Recipe: Tzatziki Tzatziki is a classical Greek cucumber and yogurt dip or sauce. It is easy to make, refreshing, flavourful and healthy too. Enjoy it as a dip with some pita chips, carrots, cucumber, bell pepper, tomatoes, etc or as a sauce. Generally, served as a sauce with grilled meats, or applied on the flatbread to make gyros. Makes an excellent sauce with souvlaki. Tzatziki is my go to dip to prepare in a jiffy as usually I have the basic ingredients ready at hand. All you need is some thick creamy yogurt, cucumber, fresh mint, dill, olive oil and the dip is ready within 5 minutes. It is a great way to enjoy some fresh veggies along with tzatziki as a starter or appetizer.…

  • Moong Spinach Handvo

    January 16, 2017mayurisjikoni

Recipe: Moong Spinach Handvo Moong Spinach Handvo is a gluten free, protein rich and healthy Gujarati snack. This handvo recipe is quite different from the traditional handvo. However, trust me, you will enjoy this version as a healthy snack, appetizer, or even as a lunchbox item. Memories I first made moong spinach  handvo for the group FoodieMonday/ Bloghop whereby the theme of the week was Bite Size Food. At that time I had run out of whole moong or green gram. Therefore had used moong dal with the skin or chotra wari dal as we call it in Gujarati. Whether you use split moong dal or whole moong, doesn’t matter. Baked some in muffin cups and the rest of the batter in a tray. Then…

  • Paneer Samosa

    June 6, 2016mayurisjikoni

EVENT: FOODIEMONDAY/BLOGHOP THEME: #43 RAMADAN SPECIAL  RECIPE: PANEER SAMOSA What is a Samosa? Samosa is a fried snack. The pastry is crispy or flaky and its stuffed with a spicy filling of vegetables, meat or paneer. Spices, herbs, are added to the dry cooked. The filling is stuffed in a pastry which is usually made at home. There are two main different types of samosas The difference is in the way the pastry is made. The more famous samosas that are widely available in India have a flaky pastry and are folded into  more plump triangles. The ones that I grew up enjoying have a thin precooked pastry that becomes crispy on frying. They are triangle in shape but not as plump as the Indian…

  • Mexican Bhel

    May 15, 2015mayurisjikoni

Recipe: Mexican Bhel Mexican Bhel is actually like a Mexican Salad but with a slight twist. A bit of sev is added as that goes almost in all the chaat recipes. Also the salsa is prepared a bit more spicy as Indian green chillis (lavangi or jwala) are used. Add vegetables of your choice. The basic components are sweet corn, onion, tomatoes, beans either red or black, bell pepper and avocado. Adding carrots, cucumber, olives, cheese is optional. Mexican Bhel is a great addition to your party menu, for kitty parties, kids parties, as a light lunch, or as a different kind of chaat. It is amazing how India tends to ‘Indianize ‘ western dishes. Mexican bhel is an innovative way to serve the famous…
