Recipe: Apple Cinnamon Waffles
Apple Cinnamon Waffles with fresh apple, cinnamon are so delicious, easy to make and come together within 20 minutes. Usually it is a Fall time recipe when apples are picked from the orchards and used up in every possible way. Last fall I had made apple pancakes and decided to use the same recipe to make waffles.
Memories
A few weeks ago I was looking for a waffle maker and hubby was scrolling through the Temu site for sandwich makers. So the tussle was between a sandwich and waffle maker. Then we came across a 3 in 1 gadget. Sandwich, waffle and panini press all in one. The sandwich maker arrived on time for me to make waffles for the upcoming theme on Sunday Funday.
Sharing Apple Cinnamon Waffles With Sunday Funday
I am a huge fan of pancakes, waffles, crepes. These are my first few choices whenever we go out for Brunch or when I am the one choosing what to make for breakfast. So not at all surprising that I didn’t want to miss out on this theme. Well, would have if I didn’t have the 3 in 1 sandwich maker. This Sunday theme was suggested by Stacy. She wrote “And in the morning, we’re making waffles!” (Extra points for anyone who remembers this movie quote.) Sweet or savory”. 24th Aug is National Waffle Day, perfect way to celebrate it. The quote sounds so familiar but can’t remember which movie. Recent visit by friends and they left quite a few apples with us. Not complaining as that give me the opportunity to make apple cinnamon waffles, before Fall time !

Ingredients Required For Apple Cinnamon Waffles
Flour
I have used all purpose flour but you can easily replace it with wheat flour.
Eggs
2 large egg at room temperature. It is 2 though you see only one in the above picture. Hubby had gone to buy some more !
Milk
I use normal dairy milk 2 or 3%.
Butter
We need melted butter for the batter. Then some extra for brushing the waffle maker. You can easily replace the butter with oil of your choice.
Apple
One medium apple cored and grated. If the apple is organic I don’t both to peel it.
Cinnamon Powder
We will be adding some to the batter and some for dusting the waffles with.
Salt
Add a bit of salt to bring out the flavours.
Sugar
Use any sugar of your choice. I used white as I ran out of brown sugar. I usually prefer the flavour of brown. You can easily replace the sugar with some maple syrup or honey.
Powdered Sugar
Today, I will be serving the waffles dusted with a mixture of powdered sugar and cinnamon. If you don’t want to add sugar then serve the waffles with honey or maple syrup.
Baking Powder
As the leavening agent.
Flavours
Can add vanilla extract, orange or lemon zest. I didn’t add any as I wanted cinnamon to be the star flavour.
To Serve
Can serve with some fresh fruit of your choice, apple slices. Serve with whipped cream, drizzle honey or maple syrup. Can also serve with some custard, the Quebec way! Or simple dust with some powdered sugar and cinnamon powder.
