EVENT: SHHH COOKING SECRETLY THEME: MADHYA PRADESH CUISINE I remember watching the Incredible India advertisement on most of the Indian Channels and also BBC World and the phrase ‘ Hindustan Ka Dil Dekho’ was a very catchy one. EVENT: SHHH COOKING SECRETLY THEME: JHARKHAND CUISINE Jharkhand, a relatively new state in the east part of India which was carved out of southern Bihar in the year 2000 means the land of forests. My son in law comes from that state and whenever his mum shares photos of their outings, it showcases the beauty of Jharkhand. Rich in wildlife, waterfalls and forests, this state is also rich in minerals like iron, coal, mica, graphite, limestone, dolomite, asbestos to name a few. The capital city for Jharkhand is Ranchi, the town where the famous cricketeer Dhoni comes from and of course where my son in law comes from. Did you know that Jamshedpur, the first planned industrial city in India has no municipal corporation as…

EVENT: BLOGGING MARATHON #89 – WEEK 3 DAY 2 THEME: CONDIMENTS ON THE SIDE Whenever I’m going to visit my kids, or for that matter any of my family members, I tend to carry food stuff for them. Be it cookies, cakes, pickles, snacks, nuts, condiments, tea or coffee…the list is endless. When my relatives come down to Mombasa, they bring lots of food stuff for me. I use to think that its only Indians who travel to any corner of the world with half their suitcase full of food stuff. Its only when bags open at the airports you realize that everyone, literally everyone travels with food stuff for their friends and families. OK, I rest my case, the younger lot, though they will…
