For Gujaratis it means garba and dandhia. It’s also the time when many fast for the 9 days. Different people fast in different ways depending on their tradition, culture or area they come for. For most Gujaratis these 9 days of fasting means no grains or pulses are consumed along with many of the beans and other vegetables. Chhattisgarh literally means 36 Forts. This central eastern state was formed by separating the Chhattisgarhi speaking southeastern part of Madhya Pradesh in the year 2000. Being a vegetarian I had to think of plant based and dairy products that are rich in Protein. Surprising there’s so much choice out there. Yes, most do not provide the complete protein as animal or meat/fish do but a combination of plant based and dairy products does take care of your daily protein intake.     Super Healthy    Navratri and Dussera are over, all the feasting is over..for now. After all the rich snacks and desserts, Saturday meal was a simple khichdi made using bajri (bajra, pearl millet) and moong dal.        The 112th theme for FoodieMonday/Bloghop suggested by Amrita who blogs at The Food Samaritan, was #1Tsp Oil. This theme couldn’t have come at a better time. Saturday meal was definitely light on the stomach and yet full of nutrition.
