    EVENT: SHHH COOKING SECRETLY THEME: TRIPURA CUISINE A bit about the group: November took Shhh Cooking Secretly group to Tripura, where I got the opportunity to make a mosdeng, Phantok Mosdeng/Brinjal Mosdeng. This group is where members get together to cook a dish on the decided theme. We are paired up and give each other two secret ingredients to cook with. The group  started by Priya of Priya’s Versatile Recipes.is an interesting way to know other food bloggers and try out dishes beyond one’s comfort zone.Other members have to then guess the two secret ingredients till we share the recipe link.   • 710. Bajri and Moong Dal Khichdi

    Super Healthy    Navratri and Dussera are over, all the feasting is over..for now. After all the rich snacks and desserts, Saturday meal was a simple khichdi made using bajri (bajra, pearl millet) and moong dal.        The 112th theme for FoodieMonday/Bloghop suggested by Amrita who blogs at The Food Samaritan, was #1Tsp Oil. This theme couldn’t have come at a better time. Saturday meal was definitely light on the stomach and yet full of nutrition. Thanks Amrita for encouraging us to cook with little or no oil.     On my ‘to do list’ was this bajra khichdi ever since Sapana of Cooking with Sapana posted the recipe for the protein rich dishes theme.     I love tomatoes. Its such a versatile fruit and an important ingredient for most dishes whether it be curries or salads. My all time favourite is tomato soup. Ready made tomato soup whether in restaurants or from packets is a bit tangy. So I made a few amendments to suit the taste buds of all in the family. Hope you like it too. Note that in this recipe I have not used oil or butter. No wonder its an excellent healthy start to a meal. A cup of soup before a meal helps you to cut down on meal portions.
