    Where are all the vegetables?       Our Shhh Cooking Secretly group (started by Priya Suresh) decided on #Summer Salads as the theme for the month of April. Summer has come early in India. Here in Kenya we are suppose to have the long rains. However, due to drought conditions, vegetables are scarce and forget about getting exotic herbs, mixed salad leaves and all that. I was partnered with Shobana Vijay of Shoba’s Delights. I gave her pasta and mango to come up with a summer salad.She prepared a mango avocado pasta salad. What do I make that’s apt for the Monsoon season without frying pakodas! For me monsoon season in Bangalore meant hot kheer or raab and dal vadas. I love the hot spicy vadas that are sold in the market areas around Bangalore. Monsoon also reminds me of the hot roasted corn(bhutta) in Mumbai near my sister- in -law’s apartment and Juhu beach.      Family Time   The week passed by so fast, its already #foodiemonday #bloghop day. Our 33rd theme is #rice. When the theme was decided, I bought the ingredients to make a coconut rice pudding. But during the course of the week the rice was not used for the pudding but for vadas. When family visits, its food, food and more food. Its been really nice to have my dad, kaka, kaki and foi here.
