EVENT:FOODIEMONDAY/BLOGHOPTHEME:#177 MAGIC OF FRESH METHI Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas holiday and a wonderful start to  the new Year. As for me, I can’t complain about the start but it hasn’t been exactly very smooth. US visa application took hours to fill, somehow they have not managed to get their online application forms user friendly like the ones for UK or Schengen visa. I so missed the easy and direct Queen’s English on the forms. For me when it says entire transaction  it means the transaction for all the applicants. But they have a different idea..pay individually! Anyway, tomorrow hubby and I will be making our to Nairobi for our visa appointment on Wednesday. I love kadhi Kadhis (yogurt curry) is made in numerous ways all over India. Some make kadhi thin, some make it thick. Some add pakoras(fritters) and some add vegetables to it. Whichever type it is I simply love kadhi with rice, parathas or rotlis. Years back when we discovered that my husband developed an allergy to chana (chickpeas), he was disappointed as he was unable to have a variety of foods. Its amazing how many things are made of chickpea flour. Initially whenever we made kadhi at home, we would make some dal for him. But obviously he missed his kadhi. One day my father in law remembered that when he was growing up in the village in India, his mum would make kadhi using millet…

Happy Father’s Day Dad I wanted to blog the recipe for fresh tuvar (lilva)kachori yesterday, but could not do so because of internet problems. Yesterday was Father’s day and I made some yummy fresh tuvar (pigeon peas) kachori as my dad simply loves farsan (indian hot snacks). Tuvar is very much in season and though my dad is not in Mombasa, I still made them with him in mind. He gets the virtual ones and we get to eat the real ones. Father’s day was a bit emotional for Ajay and me. We miss dada a lot, my dad is so far away, and our kids wished Ajay, but they too are far away. Its at times like this we tend to miss our family…
