• 721. Sourdough Pita Bread

Happy with my “Princess”    A weird title, right? Well, Princess is the name I’ve given my sourdough starter. At first I thought it like a weird idea to name the starter. Everyone who successfully makes a sourdough starter at home names it. I was wondering why. Now I know. You actually nuture it like a pet. Feed it and make sure its in the optimum environment.     Most days Princess is happy sitting idle in the fridge but on occasions I take her out and actually make something. This time round I made sourdough pita bread. I used a combination of wheat and plain flours. The pita bread turned out super yummy. I love the slight sour taste and did I mention it was…

EVENT: FOODIEMONDAY/BLOGHOP THEME: #94 SNACKS What is a snack? A snack is any sort of small amount of food eaten in between meals. It can be fruits, veggies sticks, to fried bhajias, baked goodies or even sandwiches. It all depends on individual tastes and requirements. It was like a ritual till they started afternoon classes. However, the weekends were still spent on the beach till they left Mombasa to go to Kodaikanal to study. My beach trips became less as by then we had moved back into…

    November 30, 2013mayurisjikoni

healthy cookies Isn’t amazing how one can bake so many different cookies by just adding some more ingredients or interchanging ingredients to the basic cookie dough. I love oatmeal and coconut so no wonder I had to bake these cookies. Instead of the usual chocolate chips I added some dried cranberries. My neighbours know when I am baking as they claim that the smell of freshly baked goods reaches their homes. The cookies hardly lasted for a few days. I will be baking another batch pretty soon. Cannot plan when as these days we are facing a lot of power cuts. Make these cookies to treat yourself to a sweet snack with either a hot cup of tea, coffee or milk. Don’t forget to dunk…
