EVENT:BLOGGING MARATHON #88 THEME: KID’S DELIGHT – HEALTHY DRINKS – WEEK 3 DAY 1 For the next 3 days I will be preparing healthy drinks for kids. Yes, I know I don’t have kids at home, mine are all grown up. Usually its this fact that prevents me from taking part in the monthly Kid’s Delight theme that is organized by Srivalli. However, for the month of May, I participated in this event. The good part is that fellow members who host this event can decide on the theme. I will be hosting the kid’s delight healthy drinks from 16th May to 16th June. There is a specific reason why I chose healthy drinks. When we have so many options of serving healthy home made…

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder    Every Tuesday, the members of Foodiemonday/ Bloghop group wait in anticipation to see what a fellow member will suggest as a theme for the coming week. We all take turns in suggesting the theme. For the #132nd theme Mallika who blogs at A Foodie Housewife had to decide the theme. She suggested Edible Food Art and also gave us some examples. So some of us said no to the theme and some of us immediately said yes. Usually the majority win. All who said yes immediately, slowly began sending messages that they are not artistic and have no clue how to go about this theme. I was one of them. What came to my mind first…

Food on Sticks is fun The 109th theme for FoodieMonday, Bloghop is On A Stick decided by the initiator of this group Waagmi who blogs at Cooking is Funn. Just a few days ago my daughter in law posted some photos of their visit to Kuala Lumpur. She showed us food stalls serving all kinds of food on sticks or skewers. While most appeared to be meat and fish based, I could make out a few sticks of veggie stuff. Serving food on sticks or skewers is fast becoming popular at Bars, Lounges, Dinner Parties, Cocktails,as Street Food as people don’t want to get their fingers dirty and food on sticks or skewers does look pretty, colorful and tempting. Just a few days ago I…

Happy Holi Everyone Any festival celebration means food and lots of it. Food, fun, colour, rituals all make a successful celebration. If one is missing then the celebration or festival is not complete. Our #FoodieMonday #Bloghop group decided on #Holi as our 83rd theme. With Holi it means that I’ve been with this wonderful group for now a year. My first post for the group was a fusion Holi theme. I remember preparing the dish not knowing exactly how it will be received by the other members of the group. Must say they were a friendly group and immediately felt as though I’d known them for years. Its been a great journey of learning new recipes, new cuisines, how to improve photography, drawing strength from…

HAPPY NEW YEAR Write it in your heart that every day of this new year is the best day.  A new year has begun, time to reflect on what we achieved last year, what we didn’t and  what we would like to achieve. Like every year I continuously make a resolution to lose weight, which so far I haven’t; not get so emotional if my kids don’t call regularly, which is pretty difficult to stick by and have more patience with my hubby’s weird, out of this world ideas. However, I still get angry and try to retaliate them with all my energy 🙂 This year I’ve not made any resolutions as I forget about them even before the 15th of January. Desserts, chocolates, good…

a healthy treat These days the new health rage is seeds like chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds, any thing that is coconut, mixture of fruits and vegetables. The list is endless. Even before chia seeds came onto the market, India has been using falooda seeds, Basil seeds or takmariya or sabja as its commonly known in faloodas and added in milk to give a cool refreshing drink. I remember pestering my mum to add spoonfuls of takmariya in my milk. She would tell me that too much is not good. Contrary to her belief basil seeds and chia seeds are very healthy. There are slight difference between basil and chia seeds. While basil seeds are derived from basil plant which is mainly found in…
